A perm adds lasting texture, and pairing it with bangs changes the whole shape of the face frame. The looks gathered here range from tight, defined spirals on long hair with a short straight fringe, to a medium blonde spiral perm with big, bouncy curls, to looser waves on an asymmetrical bob. There are also shorter, edgier options: a shaggy permed pixie with curly side bangs and an undercut with a permed top and a longer fringe.
The big decision is whether your bangs should be permed with the rest of the hair or left straight. Curly bangs blend into the overall texture and suit round or heart-shaped faces because they break up the forehead softly. Straight or blunt bangs create contrast and draw attention to the eyes, but they need daily styling to stay smooth against permed lengths.
Hair type matters too. Fine hair gains noticeable volume from a body-wave perm, while coarse or thick hair holds tighter spirals longer. If your hair is coloured or bleached, mention it before booking, since lightened hair takes perm solution differently.
1. Bouncy Spiral Perm with Bangs
Medium-length blonde hair has been set into large, springy spiral curls, with a soft fringe that blends into the curls. Big rods give lots of bounce without the tight frizz of smaller ringlets, and the look suits medium to thick hair that can hold the shape.

2. Long Spiral Perm with Straight Bangs
Long hair permed into fine, defined spirals contrasts with a short, straight fringe across the forehead. Leaving the bangs out of the perm keeps the face framed neatly, though the fringe will need a quick blow-dry each day to stay smooth.

3. Short Loosely Permed Hair with Asymmetrical Fringe
Loose, casual waves on a short bob gain extra edge from a fringe swept to one side. An asymmetrical cut like this suits oval and heart-shaped faces, and a light mousse scrunched through damp hair keeps the permed texture defined.

4. Wet-Looking Curly Bob with Long Thin Fringe
Softly permed curls on a bronde balayage bob are styled with a glossy, wet-look finish, and a long, thin fringe falls across the brow. Apply gel or a curl cream to damp hair and let it dry untouched to get the same sheen.

5. Messy Permed Pixie with Curly Side Bangs
Short and shaggy, this permed pixie has curly side bangs that fall naturally over the forehead. The texture makes fine hair look much thicker, and it can be styled in minutes by scrunching a little cream through damp curls.

6. Voluminous Permed Bob with Bangs for Fine Hair
Fine hair gets a real volume boost from this side-parted permed bob with bangs. A body-wave perm adds lift at the roots and movement through the ends, so the hair looks fuller without hot tools every morning.

7. Undercut with Permed Top and Longer Fringe
Short sides and a permed, longer top create a modern contrast, with a longer fringe falling forward. The undercut keeps the shape tidy while the curls on top give height, and it works well for thick hair that tends to feel heavy.

8. Big Shaggy Permed Curls with Messy Bangs
Big, shaggy curls on medium-length hair and a messy fringe give a relaxed, undone look. Layering throughout lets the perm spread out rather than turning triangular, and the style looks best air-dried with a little texturising spray.

9. Shoulder-Length Perm with Eye-Grazing Fringe
Shoulder-length layers have been permed into soft curls, with a fringe that just grazes the eyes. The layering lightens the weight so curls bounce evenly, and the eye-skimming bangs suit long or oval face shapes particularly well.

Getting permed bangs right
- Ask for the fringe to be cut after the perm, not before. Curls shrink, and bangs cut to length beforehand can spring up much shorter than planned.
- Choose a larger rod size around the face if you want soft movement rather than tight ringlets on the forehead.
- For a straight fringe with permed lengths, have the stylist leave the bang section out of the perm entirely.
The first weeks after a perm
Avoid washing for at least 48 hours so the new bonds can set. After that, switch to a sulfate-free shampoo and a rich conditioner, and scrunch in a curl cream or light mousse while the hair is damp. Diffuse on low heat or let it air-dry; brushing dry curls will turn them to frizz. A quick spritz of water and a little cream revives flattened bangs in the morning without a full wash. Most perms relax over three to six months, and fringe pieces usually loosen first because they get handled the most.
